How much entertainment are you having?

Rachel, on March 29, 2021 at 12:35 Posted in Wedding reception 1 12
We are having a really low-key reception. We really just want it to feel like a big party for our tiny wedding of 30 people. Our wedding was postponed until next year, so hopefully we won't have to plan around covid restrictions. How much entertainment do you need to provide your guests?

We will have music (no formal dance floor but space for dancing if people want to get down) and I'm thinking some fun yard games?? We will also have disposable cameras on the tables with a list for "I Spy". I just don't want it to be awkward or boring since a lot of our guests don't know each other, but at the same time I feel like adults are usually pretty good at entertaining themselves and I don't want to go overboard, but we are forgoing a lot of traditions like first dances and the bouquet toss etc.
Tldr; What entertainment are you planning??

We had no entertainment as it was just fun with our guests/family keeping things moving and the dancing for hours. Fuji cameras with film are great since you can have each table take photos of couples/groups etc. I Spy game can be entertaining you will have everyone take turns finding each item.

If you have an inkjet printer, all you need is an Ipad (find an app, there's tons out there) and photo paper (make sure you get a full cartridge of ink!). Mount the ipad on a tripod. If you're out in a yard, no need for a backdrop.

I don't think guests need specific entertainment but we decided to include some DIY yard games like Yahtzee, ring toss, and x/o's and a trivia game in case people want entertaining aside from the music!

We are just going to set up a backdrop. Im thinking something like this How much entertainment are you having? 1
Then we are going to set up a table with random props and a sign with our wedding hashtag. I was thinking people could just use their phones to capture the pictures. My bridesmaid said if I want to buy film we can use her instamax camera too!

I feel like photobooths are always a hit!! We aren't having the photographer stay for the entire reception so anything with photos is a big win in my opinion. I just don't know how to go about a DIY as the rental options are so expensive!

Our wedding is next year for 50 people and we plan on having dancing and yard games. Our reception hall has a "backyard" type space so thought we might as well make use of it. We do also plan on having a DIY photobooth if that counts for entertainment

This was my thinking too. Especially after covid I think people will just be happy to be out with other people. Thanks for helping to put my nerves at ease!

I don’t think guests need entertaining at weddings. I’ve never been a fan of the bouquet toss or first dance and I’ve almost always had fun at weddings. People will just be happy to mingle with others and dance even if there’s no dedicated dance floor.
