We did a 2 tier cake and then the rest of the servings were sheet cake. Sheet cake tastes the same but is much cheaper so it's a good way to save money! We had the venue pre-slice it in the back and then after we were done with our cutting, they cut up the rest of the display cake.

I am doing my own cupcakes, and I will be making at least one for each guest....my theory is that people who want more can have them, and as I am saving a lot by doing this myself it isn't an issue. We are having two flavours, and I know a few guests will want to try both!

Our venue apparently puts out an AMAZING dessert buffet (all the reviews online about the venue rave about it... every...single.. one), so we're just having a small 2 tier. So it's mostly just for show and "luck", but I'm really excited to have been able to save a good amount of money on the cake.

Our cake that we ordered is enough to feed 70% of our guest if 100 people. We consulted with our baker and they recommended that since not everyone eats cake at weddings to only purchase 70% to avoid waste.

Yikes! I have about 225 I'm only doing a cake for about 135 guests because not everyone eats it, but based on this diagram I hope it's not a bad idea! Is it?
