We did 1.5 per person as a late night snack, and we had a bunch left over! We probably could've gotten away with 1 per person at that point, but we also wanted to make sure people could have two (or more) if they wanted.

If you are doing cupcakes as a dessert (i.e. served right after dinner) I would do 1.5 - 2 per person. Keep in mind that not everyone is a dessert person and might only eat one, while some have a sweet tooth and eat 3-4 lol

As a dessert: 1 per person, maybe 1.5 per person.

As a late night snack or even extra dessert on top of what comes with the meals: 1 per person or less because of how full people would be, how many people are left, but also if there is alcohol you may have some people who get really into the cupcakes...

Cupcakes served in 2 different sizes will vary on serving portions. Smaller size can feed 2 per person as to a regular can feed 1 per. Another consideration to take in is that not everyone is for sweet tooth unless they decide to take it home. Thinking of putting some empty boxes out there for guests to help themselves may help.

No more than 1.5 per person. Unless you want a lot of leftovers.

We ordered 8 dozen, which works out to 1.5 per person which I think is plenty since it's more like a bonus dessert since our caterer provides a dessert too. So I think 2 is enough, especially if you're having a late night snack later as well.

We invited 329 guests and we ordered 150.


If cupcakes are your dessert 2 per person is more than enough. If it’s your late night table snack I’d do one cupcake per guest but for half of your guest count because not all of them will stick around that late.
