How far in advance to do shower?

Jennifer, on December 27, 2019 at 00:51 Posted in Before the wedding 0 8
Just wondering how far in advance you can or should do the shower? If I'm getting married end of January can I do a jack and Jill shower the August before? I feel like that's a little far out but also find the fall to be super busy with my work and our family events/birthdays/etc.

And does a shower have to be someone's home?

I mean, I doubt that you will get many if any people saying that it's too early - but the "usual" spot for having a bridal/wedding shower is about 6-8 weeks prior to the wedding. I would say that if you were to put it in maybe October/ November then nobody would bat an eye, but if you want it outside then I can't see it being a big deal if you put it in late August/ September.

I think with the winter holidays, people would be too busy for a shower anyways, so having it the August-October before would be good.

Showers don't have to be at someone's house, you can rent out community centres, banquet halls, etc for it.

You can do it any time you want and what works for you and your family!

I had one shower the Sunday before the wedding because my Sister was coming home the week before. My mother in law did hers 2 weeks before the wedding!

For a bridal shower, I’m hosting mine 2.5 months before the wedding.

We aren’t having a jack and Jill but I’ve seen some hosted as early as 6 months before the wedding

We’re doing ours 3 months out for the same reasons you’d want to. You could do it in August but I’d suggest the autumn because then people won’t be travelling or going away to cottages or camping.
You don’t have to have it in a home or have a relative host it. We’re doing ours at our old job because they host summer bridal showers. Then nobody has to prep food or clean up! Mind you, it is cheaper to have it at a house rather than book a venue.

I think any time between August and October would be fine. That way people have returned from summer vacation and aren't busy with holiday parties.

You can have it in someone's home or if you need a lot of space rent a hall. If you don't want to host some restaurants will let you book parties.

Only 1 of my friends has had a shower, she did it about 2 months out. But I don't think there's a schedule as to when it should be held. Just be sure that you have your registry up to date, and traditionally, it should be held any time after the wedding invitations have been sent out. As to where, it's another part that's open to whatever works for you and the spaces you have available to you. The friend that had it had it at the yacht club that her maid of honor's parents are apart of
