How do you plan to relax the week before your wedding?

Jackie, on August 30, 2023 at 10:40 Posted in Before the wedding 0 16

Are you a spa person? Yoga and meditate? Go hiking or camping? The week leading up to your wedding will surely be filled with little things to do and a whole lot of excitement and nerves! What do you do and what are your plans to help yourself stay zen leading up to the big day?

I worked most of the week before my wedding (shift worker here); worked Mon/Tues/Wed and then Thurs/Fri off before the wedding (which was on the Saturday).

My plan was to get a massage, go to bed early and drink lots of water...however that plan changed- I will be attending a 3 day training seminar in Chicago. Looks like I'll be relieving my stress by eating lots of deep dish pizza Smiley tongue

I took a week before the wedding to relax and do the last little details, being pregnant, I really wanted some time to myself, and took a day afterwards.

Wow what a week! Having family from out of town definitely changes things. I’m lucky that my FH is taking care of the out of towners so I can focus on the last few checklist items!

With so much family coming in - leading up to my wedding it was not necessarily relaxing lol. I still had to work the Monday so after that it was finishing up cleaning and getting all last minute things together and of course going through our checklist and making sure everything is together so I would not be scrambling the day we were leaving to Banff.

Monday night we picked up his mom and that was a late night - couldn't really sleep much and Tuesday morning is when I went for my medi & pedi. Did an other trip to the airport, spent the evening at my moms with her side of the family, went to the airport again and did not get back until like 12:30 am, woke up early to go to the mall with my mom's family, went for lunch and waited for my dad's side, left around 3:00 pm to go home and get ready for the BBQ we were hosting. After food was done, it was relaxing finally where we sat around the fire. The next morning was already the day to go to Banff and we had to get oil for my car, pack up the car of all our wedding stuff and pick up our last rental on off we were on a 4 hour road trip!

So leading up to the wedding was hectic but I am so glad I got to see family I have not seen in 4 years. I would do it again in a heart beat!

Luckily for us, our hotel had a spa that was free to use so the morning of before leaving at 10:15 to go get ready, my husband and I went to the hot tub in the morning, sauna, and had a nice quiet breakfast together.

It was crazy, but I would do it again for family Smiley smile

I know, only 3 weeks!! My bachelorette party is the Saturday before so there will be some celebrating. I am a climber and that is my happy/zen place, so 2 days before (weather allowing) I have a big day in the mountains planned! After I wreck my nails doing that I have the facial, nails, and all the pampering things booked. I will most likely obsessively go over my checklist each night before bed to help myself sleep too lol.

Honestly its true, but for dances and sitting next to each other at dinner, we were so busy socializing with guests, looking back, we did not hang around one another too much the day of lol it's so easy to get caught up in your guests I find!

Love this question, always curious to hear what brides do!

Luckily I stayed pretty organized and things were going well so stress was minimal leading up to the day. I did some at home spa treatments, tried to get to bed at a decent time and literally told myself it was just another happy day to come instead of building it up big in my head that it was our wedding!! lol

The morning of, my husband and I literally took the dog for a walk, picked up some pastries and a tea and went and sat at a park and just spent a little time together before we went back and got ready separately - this really helped with my nerves and made it seem like just another day which may seem weird to some but that's how I wanted it Smiley heart
