Hotel Room Blocks

Honestly the sooner the better, you will have to contact the hotels sale department and they will give you a price and also let you know when they open their block of rooms.

I used to work in the hotel industry, it's always best to reach out to them sooner.

Our date is October as well (2023) and we reserved it in December. Someone I know is getting married in November, and she did it in January/ February. You can also call and ask when the hotel recommends to do so. This is what I did and the staff suggested anything between 6-10 months.

I would reach out as soon as possible. Some hotels give options within a year of the wedding so your guests have time to plan accordingly

You should try to aim booking a block of rooms at least a year in advance (September-October). Even if you do so in August that’s what I would do. You will have more luck getting a block of rooms, or at least a group rate for guests if you do so the calendar year before your wedding date.


Also, having this done in advance is helpful when you do your invitations. Smaller details - if you include a “details card” with the invitation can note times of the ceremony, the time of the cocktail hour and attire recommendations (i.e. cocktail attire). You may include an “accommodations card” that notes the block of rooms, the hotel name/address and any possible transportation accommodations (maybe a shuttle service).

Congrats on your Engagement. My Venue offered a package that included a hotel. I messaged the hotel a little less than a year before the wedding. Better to reach out to them and see what type of rooms they offer, how many rooms are included in the block, what the cost for the guest is and see if you can get a complimentary room for the night as well.
