Honeymoon - When and Where?

Karine, on March 20, 2019 at 16:52 Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

Hi everyone,

Our wedding is June 14, 2019 and I'll be having my master degree this April while my fiancé starts a coop. Since we're not gonna have a lot of vacation days and that we are on a budget, we're thinking of delaying the honeymoon for a bit. Is 6 moths to a year would still be considered a honeymoon? What would be your advice about it? Has anyone already done the same?

Does anyone had made a Honeymoon in Canada, if yes - where would you suggest?

Thanks! Smiley diamond

Totally delaying ours as well! There is no true time limit on a honeymoon.
My fiancé and I are delaying our honeymoon as a reason to leave during the cold winter months. Most people we know are delaying it by 3 months or more
Prince Edward Island has some beautiful beaches and some cozy romantic places to stay its worth checking out.

Of course you can delay it! Heck - my friend from work got married in fall and went this January! Plus, some resorts give either upgrades or a discount on your honeymoon if you can provide your marriage certificate - which that same friend is STILL waiting on!!! (over 5 months now and still doesn't have hers.)

I'm getting married this October but I will probably be enrolled in a night course so I wouldn't want to go on a honeymoon until I'm off which would be end of November but then it's soooo close to Christmas, then January has Ukrainian Christmas, so we probably won't go until maybe end of January or early February.

Honestly, most people I know who have had a honeymoon normally wait till winter months when cold and go away then!

We are on a tight budget and don't know where we will be able to go.

My suggestion is pick a place, and search air bnb if want to save on food and cook some stuff yourself. I found this cute place its few hours form us Tobermory - has this beatiful hiking area with a spot you can swim into a cave or just jump off edge. Its this cute cabin type thing though.

We are already going to be camping, so we will probably travel around the area a bit more or even go to the mountains and camp as we will have the following week after the wedding booked off too 😊

We are getting married on Saturday!!! My FHs Mom got us a honeymoon suite for our Wedding night but he has no clue. I'm packing our bag. Our Mini moon starts Sunday. We are heading to a 2 night Jacuzzi suite in Niagara Falls. We have postponed our 10 day honeymoon because Fhs Mom is having a triple bypass when we would have been away still. Her surgery is April 1 and we are praying everything goes well. We will leave for Rivera Maya on April 4 👰🤵

We're deferring our honeymoon too, I think that as long as its before your first anniversary it still counts as a honeymoon and not just a vacation Smiley smile

We don't have it booked yet but we will be going to Hawaii in January 2020! I'm SOOOOO excited!! We get married June 1st of this year but since we are taking 3 weeks off to go back home for the wedding we'll have to wait a bit for the honeymoon so we decided next January.

I live in BC and it's about gorgeous here so maybe you could do a honeymoon here? The Okanagan has tons of winery's you can visit. Maybe stay at one of the beautiful resorts and do wine tours.

Generally it's considered ok to call a trip within a year of your wedding your honeymoon, so don't worry about delaying it by six to twelve months!

As someone who has, literally, lived from one coast to the other (my father was in the military), I can tell you that there are absolutely gorgeous, romantic, fun places all over the country. Where you might want to go depends on what you're interested in.

The East Coast has amazing history focused around pioneers and early settlers, as well as lots of fun tourist type activities.

The west coast is gorgeous, and has lots of wineries, nature trails and the like.

Central Canada has lots of metropolitan options, as well as nature (northern Ontario, as I'm sure you know!).

There is no specific timeline on when you should take your honeymoon! Go whenever it works for you and your FH!
Although we are travelling somewhere warm for our honeymoon. Many of my coworkers have travelled Canada and have nothing but great things to Say! I’ve heard Nova Scotia is beautiful, and same with BC!

Delaying your honeymoon until you and your FH are ready for it is absolutely fine! People do it all the time. As for travelling within Canada, I can't help you there. We're going far away for our honeymoon.
