Honeymoon Question/marriage Certificate

Andrea, on March 6, 2019 at 10:48 Posted in Honeymoon 0 12

Hey guys, I'm from Toronto, and my fiance and I are going to Punta Cana the day after our wedding, for 5 nights in September. We would like to take advantage of the honeymoon packages at the resort, but they say they need a copy of the marriage certificate for this. Thing is, that's impossible since it will take weeks before it arrives. Any alternatives or suggestions for this? By the way, we are having a courthouse wedding in Toronto (just our two witnesses and our two daughters will be present) .. I've seen some people say an invitation would be suffice for resort staff, but invites are so unnecessary since we don't have a list of people.

Talk to the resort and see if they'll accept a copy of the marriage license.

They must be used to these types of requests.

If must use an invite, just create one on a free site...like Wedding Wire!

I had to order a replacement birth certificate for my FH and obviously need it for the marriage license, and I had been putting it off as I've had mine come within a day. I heard these delays and stressed! Ordered it and messaged service Ontario on Facebook and they messaged me back! Said because it's a replacement it wasn't apart of the whole delay! Got it a week later

There’s a piece that detaches from your license called “record of solemnization”- it should be sufficient

I would ask the resort if they'd accept a copy of the signed marriage license! Hopefully they are willing to accommodate since so many honeymooners go before they are able to get their marriage certificates.

The resort should be flexible on this one! I think as long as you have proof of being married you should be ok. My friend got married in September and still hasn't gotten her certificate. There was an article posted last month I believe that says there is a huge backlog for these, so the resort would have to be flexible!

I'd contact the resort and ask them if a copy of the wedding licence, signed by all parties and the officiant, would suffice. If the person who answers the phone says that's not their policy, ask for a manager, as this seems a perfectly legit request.

Hey Andrea, I’d definitely contact the resort and ask them if anything else would be suffice since your marriage certificate might be difficult to obtain. See what they say! Have you already booked with them or do you have the opportunity to still change to another resort that might be a little more forgiving with proof of marriage?

We are going away for our honeymoon on March 26. Our Wedding day is March 17. We are booked for a honeymoon package and must bring our marriage license signed by us and our Officiant. We were also told to bring our Wedding Invitation and a Wedding pic. Number 3 on my packing list is marriage license.

That is crazy!! My friend who got married this past fall STILL hasn't received her certificate yet!! It's been almost 5 months!!

Would there be any way they would accept a picture of the license and some pictures of you getting married in your wedding dress and what have you? You also have to think that some people don't have invitations on paper and only online so maybe you could do a quick draw up of one here on Wedding Wire and say that was your invite?
