Honeymoon: now or later?

Lynnie, on February 5, 2019 at 13:53 Posted in Honeymoon 0 35

When are you going on your honeymoon? Will you leave for your trip right after your wedding? Or are you saving the big trip for later to divide up the costs and time off?

When are you jetting off and why?

We will leave two days after our wedding. Wedding on Sunday, fly out Tuesday (if all goes according to plan, since its not till October 2020 can't really book the flights just yet). Been planning the honeymoon before the wedding LOL so can't wait. 3 Weeks between road trippin' Germany, Switzerland and a Mediterranean Cruise. Wanted to go on the honeymoon and bask in the newlywed glow before coming home and working on buying a house.

We are going later. Wedding is in June and honeymoon is in October.

I wish we were going away right away but we decided we would rather go somewhere hot when it starts to get cold here.

Definitely right away. Our flights are booked for 2 days after the wedding. After all the hardwork and effort that goes into planning a wedding, i felt like I deserved a week off on the beach. Plus if we were to push it back, we probably wouldn’t end up going.

Later for us. We're having a winter wedding (which I assume would be perfect time to slip away to an all-inclusive or cruise) but I've had my heat set on Greece for as long as I can remember. We dont want to go peek season due to high level or tourists. Wedding will be in Feb and honeymoon will likely be October. Also giving us time to save for a few months post-wedding.

We'll be getting married in June 2020 but will probably be going the following winter as we want to go to new Zealand and have to save for it. But we might go on a mini moon to banff for a weekend.

I have a really big immediate family so their wedding gift to us is paying for our honeymoon we were given a budget that could easily be divided between 9 and stuck to it! We are getting married on a saturday and fly out the Monday; we didnt want to hop on a 6 am flight literally 5 hours after our reception ended we would have to go right to the airport from the reception so we are taking the day after to leave!

We just got back from our 12 day honeymoon in the Caribbean! We were married in September.

We put off the honeymoon til now as hubby needed the new year for more holiday time, plus we wanted a tropical getaway and it always seems nicer to do when you're escaping the cold and snowy time of year!

Oh, we also did a mini-moon to Whistler for a few nights right after the wedding, but we're calling the Caribbean cruise our real honeymoon!

We're going away to an all-inclusive in Mexico for a week, leaving two days after the wedding, but my FH is refusing to call that the actual honeymoon (a curse on whoever taught him the term "minimoon"). The actual honeymoon will be in September, about 3 months later. We're going to Italy (or South Africa?). It was the only month we could get 3 consecutive weeks off from work.

Later. I’ll be starting my last grad school course the day after the wedding and then have a big-ass paper to write. So, we’re planning to go on our honeymoon for our first anniversary.
If all goes as planned, three weeks in Ireland with quick stops in Scotland and England as well.

This was the most unconventional thing we have done. We went on our "honeymoon" before the wedding. We had an opportunity to go to Italy and Greece and jumped at the chance to go.

We were leaving, Limo booked and all straight from the country club to a hotel near the Airport. (Approx 1 to 1 1/2 hr drive)We found out our flight would leave at 6am which meant we would need to check in the airport at 3am!
We get married March 23 & decided to leave at 8am on the 26th. Making this decision has taken so much pressure off of us. Now we aren't packing for Night before Wedding, Wedding and honeymoon! I want a picture with my furry Baby Journey so badly and we just couldn't figure out a time we could make it happen... now when we get home, my FH can take our pictures 😻 I am pretty sure we won't get a hotel in our home town the night of our Wedding. Our honeymoon is very extravagant for us, we are still in shock and its 10 days long so we are both happy to save that money and begin our 1st night as Husband and Wife in our own bed.

I'm not sure we will ever have a honeymoon tbh, but maybe we could arrange something for the next year. My FH's entire family is coming over from Ireland, so we will be showing them around Southern Ontario during the week after the wedding--they've never been to Canada before. I'm thinking of staying at a B&B on our wedding night and spending the next day alone together in a quaint town. It seems a bit anticlimactic to just go back to our appartment that night. Money is also a factor besides logistics. I think whenever we go on a proper vacation again, we will call it our honeymoon.

We still haven't booked our honeymoon. I just cannot even deal with that right now haha. We are both in the bridal party for a wedding in the summer. It is looking likely that we will wait until the fall to go.

That's my thinking exactly! I hope your trip was awesome btw Brittany!!

I didn't take into account that federal election was the Monday right after my wedding and let's just say... my dad and I have very strong, very different political views. My original plan was to stay with my parents (since that's the city we are getting married in) until Wednesday/Thursday but I don't want to get into a fight with my dad after he paid for part of the wedding lol. We're thinking of heading down to spend some time with FH's family the Monday after and that way we can fly out of Detroit and potentially have more flying options.

Our wedding is in October and we will most likely be going to an all inclusive somewhere. So we want to go far enough outside of hurricane season. We will probably end up leaving in the middle of November

Our wedding is on Friday, so we'll either leave on Saturday or Sunday (ideally).
