Help! mc

Amanda, on June 13, 2018 at 14:28 Posted in Wedding reception 0 7

So we have asked our 2 MCs and they have said yes. Someone told them that they just have to keep things going and that me and my fiance will write out what they have to say.....Does anyone have an MC handbook or found a great template?

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

As a couple, the MCs need to know the timeline of the reception and which order you want to go abouts for speeches. Let them write out the material since they know you both well.

Why not suggest to say stories of you as the couple and some others that have known you (friends and colleauges).

They are responsible for writing their own stuff. the job is for them to keep on a timeline and call people up for speeches etc.
your job with them is to go over when you want speeches, your wedding partys names, house keeping rules etc.

Generally speaking, your MC should keep things moving and try and keep the reception on the timeline you give them (or as close as they can manage). They typically write their own stuff - it's not a big speech (though they usually give a 1-2 minute introduction at the beginning of the evening, welcoming everyone, etc).

These are some of the links I sent my MC:

I think what they may be looking for is a timeline of events as well as things like how is the wedding party being introduced when you enter, who is speaking when (ie. MOH during Salad, BM during main course, Bride & Groom during dessert etc), when the dances are and anything else you would like to be announced. I don't think it would need to be word for word what they have to say but the person was definitely right in that you'll have to give them a pretty exact timeline of when you want them to speak and a general idea of what they should say/introduce.

I agree with the below! I'm not sure if I would completely write out mine, giving them some freedom to write their own script will help them be more comfortable with delivering everything!

I would suggest looking up a few timelines and see which works best for you and then work their parts into it!

I am pretty sure that they are responsible for writing their own stuff. Our MC was also our officiant and he wrote out a whole ceremony and toast and script for the evening.

I suggest doing some searching online and pointing them in the right direction.
