Headtable

Katherine, on January 27, 2017 at 11:54 Posted in Wedding reception 0 5
I've been playing around with the idea of not having a head table for the reception... Most of our bridal party have families and we thought it would be nice to have them sit with their families for supper... Instead of the traditional rectangular head table, we are thinking of going with a round table like the rest (each seats 8), I have three single male friends who will be doing alot of the behind the scenes work for the wedding who would make up my half of the table, his son plus guest would make up the other half... Has anyone seen this done? Did it work? We did discuss having a sweetheart table but decided that we would feel like we were in the zoo.

We hadn't planned to do a sweetheart table but it suited our needs best. We had 1 groomsman and 5 bridesmaids so we ended up doing family tables on either side of us for our wedding party, their SOs, our moms and a few other close family members. It was nice having the sweetheart table because quite a few of our guests came up to talk to us during dinner and they could easily reach us since we weren't at a big table. And the wedding party was still close enough that we could grab them if we needed something.

So do whatever's most comfortable for you!

I think sitting among your guests is just fine! I totally understand not wanting to be on display (it played a huge factor in deciding private ceremony!)

HAHA in a zoo! We are having a sweetheart table, but it's more or less out amugst the guests so it doesn't feel so much like a spot light will be on us on a stage and everyone watching! I know I'm looking forward to a few moments alone with my new husband, since we will both be talking to so many other people and being pulled in 100 directions all day and night... so I'm team sweetheart all the way!

But you can absolutely just seat yourselves with whatever guests you'd like! I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Though your table mates won't get to talk to you much when you're off doing table visits
