Has anyone got married on a Sunday in a Catholic Church ?

Victoria, on January 27, 2020 at 07:06 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 4
Hi guys!
My fiancé and have booked our hall for September 6,2020 the labour day long weekend. We made a mistake and booked it and didn’t realize that you can’t get married on a Sunday in a lot of Catholic Churches. So I was wondering if there’s anyone from the gta and surrounding areas that has gotten married or attended a weeding at a Catholic Church on a Sunday?

If you're ok with a less traditional time, likely after their weekly mass is finished, it might be possible.

Depending on how much time they allow you might not get to decorate much, unless you have easy to place and remove items. Things like pre-decorated lanterns to place along the aisle could work.
You're best bet is to reach out to a few churches and see what they say. It might be less work for them where the building already has staff and clergy present.

Sunday Wedding in a church isn't a bad idea unless there is the timing is good without any services or mass taking place on that day.

If you’re ok with not having a full wedding mass, you might be able to get away with a 1PM ceremony. I’d clarify with your church first. Christ the King in Hamilton used to do Sunday weddings (not sure if they still do)

Have you asked the church that you would like to get married at? I'm not religious at all, so not sure of procedures, but I would think that if the ceremony were to take place later in the day they may be more likely to allow it as long as no other events or masses are happening. If you're flexible time wise on the day then let them know that. It never hurts to ask!
