gta Reception Options that Allow outside catering

Hello everyone!

My fiance and I are in the very beginning planning stages of our wedding of about 150 people and we are looking for a place, preferably in the GTA, that will allow for outside catering but are finding it almost impossible. We have very specific cuisine in mind (Afghan and Portuguese) and we're having trouble finding a venue that we love that will allow outside catering. Does anyone have any suggestions? We are looking for a non-banquet hall spot (i.e. not a box with no windows) preferably with an outdoor space where guests can lounge and we can set up outdoor furniture, but where the reception itself happens indoors.

Someplace like the Toronto Botanical Gardens would be ideal, but unfortunately, they do not offer outside catering- boo.


Any suggestions?

    Hi Diana, it’s me again. Are you comfortable sharing how much you spent and if the day went smoothly? how was your experience and how was the food? how did it work with both caterers? Thanks! Your wedding looked beautiful!

    Hi! We actually ended up finding a beautiful place in Richmond Hill, through Airbnb (not sure if they still have a listing up though). The company is called In Fine Feather Events. They were a fairly new business at the time, and we had to do a bit of negotiating, but they allowed us to do the outside catering for the Afghan food (try and get Arzo, they are super professional, and their food is delicious), and the Portuguese catering we did through them, we just let them know what dishes we wanted. They also did the appetizers, the bar, and the decor. Here is an Instagram post they did for our event, if you want to see what it looked like.

    Not sure what type of event you are looking for but it was outdoor/tent. The owner's name is Cheryl Lambert in case you want to reach out.

    Diana, I know you got married 2 years ago and may be inactive, but what did you end up doing? I am Portuguese, and my fiancé is Afghan and we are lost.

    York Mills Gallery allows outside catering.

    FYI, a lot of venues have a Portuguese menu. Afghan is where it's tough.
