Going forward with wedding ceremony

Bethany, on May 4, 2021 at 16:07 Posted in Before the wedding 0 4

My fiance and I have been bittersweet about all of the restrictions and changes we have had to make to our wedding. We have separated our ceremony and reception, and keep moving the date of the reception, but we have kept our ceremony date the same the whole time.

The date itself is meaningful to us, and we have been waiting for this for a long time. Nova Scotia is currently back in lock down, and it's supposed to be lifted May 12th, but it's almost a guarantee that it will be extended. Ironically, it feels like a weight has been lifted from our process. We can only have 5 people plus our officiant, and while it's not ideal, the fact the decision is out of our hands, and not a matter of us making tough choices makes it easier. We are now 2 weeks away, and very excited to have our intimate affair.

Keep up hope, things will get better in time!

Thank you! The date is special because my fiance proposed on May 18th in 2018!

My husband is super happy we had a smaller wedding because of covid! It definitely became a silver lining.

I did this back in October, and while we could have had a bigger reception at the time we chose to wait until this year because we have family in Ontario that we are hoping will be allowed to travel (or can make the two week quarantine work for them).

Our mini wedding was perfect even with our small guest count, at the end of the day we got married and that's what matters.

That's great that you can find a silver lining in this mess. What makes the date special for you?

We're also moving forward with our ceremony regardless of what will be happening in Ontario that time. Planning for it sucks since everything is so unpredictable but we'll make the best of it.
