Getting ready sweaters

Valerie, on January 23, 2017 at 09:57 Posted in DIY 0 26

Hey hey my fellow brides to be (and grooms if you're in here)!

I had decided to make some "getting ready sweaters" in place of having robes (I fond the robes so uncomfortable and love a nice cozy hoodie! Plus if anyone wants to run out for coffee or something, they wouldn't have to change) and finally made them this past weekend (with some help from the lovely Melissa).

I bought plain sweaters and iron-on vinyl online, and got to designing what I wanted them to look like. I cut everything out with my Cricut, and slowly assembled them. After a few burns from my iron (and melting a hole in the side of my garbage can... OOPS!)... here is the final result!

Haha, no it would be VERY difficult by hand because you have to cut through only 1 of the 2 layers. Do you have a friend with a Cricut or Silhouette? Sometimes small local crafting stores let you rent/use their machine for a small fee.

Thank you! I just bought sheets of iron on vinyl from Happy Crafters (Canadian, cheap, good quality!) and cut everything myself (picking fonts took forever).

Those look amazing !!!!!! Val where did you get your iron ons? I have been looking to do these with plaid shirts for my girls and it would be so much cheaper if I could do my own ....

They were pretty easy, but if I didn't have my Cricut to cut out the letters that would be a COMPLETELY different story!!!

Thank you! Ya those robes are not made for women my size and I'd be worried about flashing the photographer all morning (or have to wear somethng under which kind of defeats the purpose!). And the most annoying part of burning it was that there was black melted plastic all over the iron and I was using it on WHITE sweaters!! Thankfully I managed to only get a little dot on the inside of the hood on my sisters lol

I'll have to check on the font for you (remind me later!), I can never remember the names.

Those turned out so well! And you only burned one hole in the trash can Smiley winking I definitely prefer hoodies over robes to getting ready and wish I'd done this! Great idea!

What font did you use for "bride" on the back? I love it!
