Getting Down to the Wire

Charmaine, on July 26, 2019 at 12:24 Posted in Before the wedding 0 8

I was just wondering if you have to buy gifts for the wedding party. We are putting together a destination wedding that is not all inclusive and is in the hometown of my fiance. This is in Jamaica and money talks out there, I am so worried currently about our spending and everyone wants something. I personally think that my fiance is just too nice and I'm trying my best to cap our spending or we will run out of money.

You don’t have to but it’s a nice gesture. You could get them something like a necklace or bracelet that they could wear on the day and wear again.

A Thank You card with a gift card is enough to let them you appreciate them being there with you and to use when they get back.

If your paying for the their hair/make-up/nails, then its fair amount to give them and nothing more in that case. Some things are given as gifts as they have spent for what you asked them on their part.

We had our expenses covered for our shopping and vendors. The wedding party were responsible for their expenses otherwise. The only thing we did give them were cologne sets and perfume sampler boxes as gifts on the wedding day.

I agree with Tori on this- the gift doesn't have to be big either it can be as simple as a necklace for your side and for his a flask. It doesn't have to be $100 per person spent on gifts. Just a gift in general would be appropriate

If you are having them pay for their outfits, accommodations, etc. then yes - a gift would be the right thing to do.

If you are paying for any of the previously mentioned then just a simple bottle of wine when you get back home would be more than enough as dresses and suits or hotel is at least a couple hundred dollars and would suffice as the wedding party gifts.
