Fun modern game ideas for wedding reception

Anne, on January 16, 2019 at 10:31 Posted in Wedding reception 0 5

To keep guests entertained between speeches and dinner, what are some good fun modern-twist game ideas you've done or seen at wedding receptions? Like instead of clinking glasses etc.

You can have some lawn games if you're going to an outdoor venue. The DJ can also play older songs and ask the guests to guess the songs by writing it down, and you can have a prize such as a centerpiece.

I've seen a few things - Kissing menus, plinko, wheel of fortune - do a google search. You'll get lots of inspiration.

We have been playing with the idea of having a giant pair of dice for the guests to roll on the dance floor to make the bride/groom kiss, but then some sides will say like "kiss another guest" and some other options!

Also my mom would bells at the dollar store that was another idea! Instead of clinkling glasses (most venues forbid this) they can just ring the bell for a kiss!

Congratulations on your engagement! Welcome to Wedding Wire!

I dream of having a ping-pong table and double dutch jump rope station at our wedding or welcome dinner, as they reflect the playfulness of me and my FH.

Brainstorm with your significant other, and then use Pinterest for ways to hack and elevate them for your wedding day!

Also consider any cultural games that you can tie-in.

I'm all for the shoe game if you don't have that planned later on in the evening. Otherwise I would say that if you are having buffet style food you could get them to answer trivia questions about you and your Fiancé?

Other things to help the time pass by are yard games if you have outdoor space as well as the time for them. You could also go with whatever interests you and your Fiancé share and do something based off of that!

P.S. Congrats on the engagement and welcome to the wedding wire community!
