I’d do a few cheese trays, salads, veggies (especially if ppl have food allergies etc), baked potatoes or mashed, green beans, a big fruit tray.

Apples are good choice in salads, sauces and dips to give the flavour to pork. A good way to know some good side dishes for roast pork can be looked on allrecipes.com. This site is amazing to give you ideas for any ethnic food and food portions adjusted to how many guests your serving at the reception. Food network is another source for famous chefs that have made dishes according to specific meats.

Do any of your guests have food allergies to consider?
One good thing is a leaf salad and a cold salad of some kind are always great staples. You could do a veggie bake for any veggie/vegan guests like ratatouille that can also act as a side. You can also go for a starch to round out the meal like potato anything, sweet potato fries, or fried rice. All easy to make and won’t bust your budget.

We did Danny's Whole Hog BBQ for our wedding and had:

BBQ Chicken, Pulled Pork (with buns and sauces), Caesar salad, Loaded Baked Potatoes, Mac & Cheese, and Mixed Veggies.

Good sides I would recommend would be salad, corn, coleslaw, macaroni salad, mac & cheese, baked potatoes, veggie kabobs, etc.

I would just say to make sure that if you have any vegetarians or vegans that you have something for them. For ours we had veggie burgers but in hindsight we should have just had our own mushroom burgers to avoid a possible dislike (although they say it was a fine vegan/veggie burger....)

Diy salad bar. Can be done for super cheap, and everyone loves it. Bulk buy bacon bits and croutons, prep some egg (my fave), some veggies, and a mix of dressings (ranch, ceaser, thousand island, vinaigrette, and blue cheese). Throw in some of the shaker parmesan cheese and your good to go. For the lettuce you can prep it yourself a few days before, buy some of the premade stuff, or even buy some undressed jumbo salads from restaurants catering menu. Throw in a couple pasta or potato salads perhaps, and good to go

I would think a leafy salad option, maybe a pasta or potato salad, and roasted potatoes. They would all be easy to keep hot or cold too.

I think corn bread is a must! Any time I've gone for BBQ I get cornbread and I look forward to it every time.

    Hi Katrina,

What about salads; garden, Greek, Caesar, pasta salads. Roasted potatoes, roasted vegetables or mixed that go well with either main dish.
