Flowers / brooch bouquet

Sara, on January 11, 2017 at 10:42 Posted in Wedding reception 0 6

Hello,

I have hit a roadblock for my quickly coming up wedding regarding flowers, I'm hoping that you all could help me by providing your opinions. Firstly, it is a destination wedding in a courtyard in New Orleans. Everyone will be travelling from Canada by plane.

The courtyard has a lot of greenery and natural brick as well as a small water feature off to the side. From the "promoted picture" photo below, to my understanding everything except the large flower arrangements on the podium will be there for me. I plan on buying silk rose petals to line the aisle the same.

I spoke with the hotel months ago regarding the fact that we cannot transport any flowers back as keepsakes and I'm not paying for a wedding planner to setup any lavish displays, she said that with the greenery already there that aside from the rose petals, there should be enough without paying for flowers.

Now that it is getting so close, I'm panicked thinking I should do something! Several florists I've contacted have already told me they are not taking anymore weddings for my date and others are simply very expensive. The US/Canadian exchange rate is hovering around 35% which is adding substantially to the cost.

In everyone's honest opinion, is it too plain without the flowers???

Yes, I agree that I am totally overthinkning it. However, I did decide to add some decor the the aisle chairs and some greenery around the candle centrepiece - just to beef it up a bit.

I am having very minimal decorations at my ceremony as well, it's outside and beautiful on its own. I feel like you are in the same situation. That space is BEAUTIFUL and I think keeping it simple will work best. I truly think just lining the aisle with petals is a perfect touch! You're just over-thinking it with the wedding coming up so quickly (I've been starting to do the sameXD )

Hi Sara, your venue looks beautiful! With an architectural style like that, you don't even need decorations in my opinion. Smiley smile I've noticed that some brides here plan to buy bulk flowers at costco. I have no idea about how far ahead you would have to order them but maybe that would be an option if you feel like you would want some flowers.Have you considered paper flowers? Some oversized paper flowers would look pretty cool against the brick walls.
