First Dance Song

Natasha, on January 14, 2020 at 16:23 Posted in Before the wedding 0 14

How did you guys choose?
I am torn between 3 really.

Faithfully by Journey - I've always loved that song but the lyrics don't quite fit but the message is still there.

How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding - Very simple yet effective. (I only found this song the last few weeks but I keep going back to it)

This I Promise You by NSYNC - The lyrics are pretty much on point and as a Nsync fan I've always loved this song.

I'm so torn and no idea how to make a decision! lol

I am in the same boat, I have about 3-4 that i love for all different reasons and can't decide. My fiance likes all of them too. We did decide that we would like to go to dancing classes so that we can have a nice organized dance for the first dance instead of having no coordination but I am worried if we practice to our first dance song all those times it will take away from the special moment on the day of the wedding, has anyone taken dancing classes for the first dance and run into this issue?

We initially were thinking ED SHEERAN but we went old school and decided on Elvis - can’t help falling in love. We love just how calm it is and that it feels like an actual slow dance song and not super upbeat.

We were having a hard time deciding on our first dance song, and one night we were out listening to a friend (Erin Blackstock) play and she sang a song she wrote. We absolutely fell in love with it, so we have asked her if we could use it, and she will be singing it for us and also singing for our cocktail hour. This actual song is not finished recording yet but she has released her Day Drinkin' Song on spotify and Apple music.

We always loved Mirrors by Justin Timberlake but I find it don't fit a first dance all that well unless you're gonna go and do a choreographed dance (which isn't us) but I found a cover I love that is nice & slow so that might be it..

We used Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. I'm a Lady Gaga fan and it was a bonus to use on of her songs in our wedding. Also the song relates to our relationship and how far we've both come since being in each other's lives.

Your first dance song might not even exist yet, like Tori mentioned. You can also look at your list of 3 and have one as a first dance, one for walking down the aisle (if not already chosen), and the other for leaving ceremony (again if not already chosen).

We chose Green Eyes by Coldplay - I have green eyes, and he had learned how to play it on guitar for me when we first started dating Smiley smile

I would say that if you haven't already you should ask what your Fiancé(e) thinks. And don't worry about it too much yet!! We didn't pick this as our first dance song until about a month before the wedding Smiley tongue Plus the song I walked down the aisle to (Lover by Taylor Swift) wasn't even a song until the summer before my wedding!! Maybe your song hasn't been released yet!

We picked ours because it was super meaningful. We got engaged at Disney, and my fiance's favourite Disney movie is Tangled (Rapunzel). We both love the song At Last I See the Light (it's made me cry before) so we have decided to have our two best friends (professional singers) duet the song live for us!!If you don't have a song that has a particular meaning, choose one with a beat that feels comfortable to dance to. Listen to all the songs and dance around in your living room to them. Nothing worse than a song that has an awkwardly slow/fast beat that you can't dance to! Dancing to them all in advance might spark an "a-ha!" moment Smiley smile Disney Engagement!First Dance Song 1

We chose First Love Song by Luke Bryan. We've been together for 12 years already and never had an "our" song, so this will be our first love song Smiley winking

Weve been together for almost 12 years already and for that reason I really liked thinking out loud but it seems to predictable. Haha.

We chose "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran Smiley smile We've been together for 9 years already (highschool sweethearts) and just found this song to suit us "perfectly" (pun intended). A few years back, I thought to myself that "All of me" by John Legend would potentially make a great wedding song, but then my dad got remarried and my stepmom walked down the aisle to that song and now I associate the two together! Lol

    We haven't picked ours yet.

Have you looked for an instrumental version of the Journey song? That way you get the song you love without guests being confused by the words.
The other two are lovely too. Have you tried dancing to each one? Sometimes we have random kitchen dance parties and a few of those songs are on my list.
