Finding an officiant

Kayley, on August 9, 2017 at 23:49 Posted in Wedding ceremony 0 7

This is one area that totally baffles me - where do I start? What do I look for? What are reasonable prices/expectations from the contract?

Thank you in advance for your help saving my sanity on this one! Smiley laugh

This website can be very helpful in finding one.

    Where are you getting married?

We don't have any specific elements we need. 1-2 readings and that's about it. Honestly haven't really researched too much on it yet...

I found our officiant through Wedding Wire actually. A company called AEIC Weddings Inc. They have a variety of officiants who speak many languages and can travel to your location. They are reasonably priced as well.

Don't stress Kayley, you'll find one! Have a look through the Vendor tab here on WeddingWire for officiants in your area, where you can read a description of the sort of ceremonies they provide. You and your future spouse will have to have a sense of what sort of ceremony you want - religious, spiritual, secular... and consider what elements you might want to include - sand ceremony, unity candle, handfasting, religious blessings... You don't need to make any firm decisions yet, but you should have an idea of the sort of ceremony you want so you're sure to get a celebrant who can help you pick just the right elements and words to fit your vision. Do you know now what kind of ceremony you want?

My venue recommended All Seasons Weddings so we just went with them. I liked it because they have a variety of officiants to choose from. Basically the website has a list of different officiants with a little description of what kind of ceremonies they do and how many years experience they have, etc. We chose our officiant because we just want a very quick and simple ceremony and this lady seemed like she does that. I think we paid 350ish?

When I was comparing the first question for everyone was basically if they had my date and time available. Officiants around my city book up extremely fast and often have multiple ceremonies in one day. I then looked at if their services included a rehearsal the night before and if they were willing to meet with us beforehand a time or two to go over the ceremony outline possibilities. After that there were about three in the running and I honestly chose based on how the one made me feel! The other two seemed more stuffy and impersonal while the third made me feel heard and like she actually cared. Sounds silly but the way she made me feel in talking to her made it a very easy decision, so I would definitely recommend you listen to your gut!
