#Fiancé(e)Friday! Are you used to saying the word "Fiancé(e)" yet?

Joey, on January 25, 2019 at 08:26 Posted in Before the wedding 0 21

How long did it take you to remember to refer to your partner as your fiancé(e)? How much longer after that did it take you to get comfortable saying it? Were you ready to say it right away, or did it take some getting used to? Does saying it still give you butterflies?

Who got used to saying it first?

I had gotten used to Fiance a ways through the year... Now I'm adjusting to "husband"! Eee. So strange. So much stranger than fiance... lol.

We gave been engaged a year and he started saying it within a month. If felt unnatural to me for much longer. I think it just started to sound normal to me about a month or so ago. Now we are only 48 days I believe from the big day and that I will have to adjust to husband instead.

I use it quite a bit but it's just because of where I work I end up talking about my life and he does come up lol.

I don't say it often, I just use "boyfriend', "partner" or "husband" (we're common-law).

My FH uses it more regularly.

It took me about a month to get used to it. He’s now been my fiancé for over a year so I very rarely slip up!

I love saying fiance but when I slip up, he's like "oh... so I'm back to just boyfriend now huh?"

I still say boyfriend all the time Smiley laugh fiance still feels strange, but I love the sound of it. Confession... I sometimes test out saying "husband" - that one feels the most right!

I still say my "partner"! I think it's so mysterious. Partner in crime? Business partner? Lover? Who knows! (She's actually my fiancee though).

I still make the mistake of “boyfriend” lmao fiancé feels so grown up 😂 we laugh about it though. My FH introduced me to a distant relative at a wedding last weekend as his girlfriend, so we’re even!

I for SURE still get butterflies even a year later! It took me a while to say it but then one day at work when I said "boyfriend" one of my coworkers corrected me to "Fiance" and from that point on I made sure to say Fiance hahah!

It took a little getting use to it. I had to catch myself in the beginning but now I say it all the time. We have been engaged for 4 months now - can't believe time is flying.

I called him my boyfriend twice before he stopped me and said "hey remember that rock on your finger?, i'm not just your boyfriend anymore" haha! we've been engaged for almost 6 months now and im totally used to it, however I already started calling him my husband sometimes lol - people are often weirdly offended about that for some reason. I've posted on my instagram a cute pic of him and used the caption "hubby" on it and I got so many messages saying you're not even married yet... but whatever! he's been my husband in my mind since we started talking about marriage.

We don't use that word at all actually.
We refer to each other as girlfriend/boyfriend or husband/wife, depending on the situation.

It took a couple weeks to get used to it, but now it feels weirder when I accidentally say 'Boyfriend' instead of 'Fiance'.

It didn't take me too long since I had the ring on my finger to remind me all the time lol. I think I was used to it before my FH but at his work he refers to me as the wife as a joke between coworkers (this happened before we got engaged too lol)

My pet peeve quickly became when people referred to my FH as my boyfriend still, even though they knew we were engaged. It took some people a little more time to get used to that more than us getting used to it.

I couldn't refer to him as my Fiancé and he couldn't refer to me as his Fiancée until a couple weeks of being engaged (since I proposed he wanted to still go and ask my Dad for permission before announcing), so as soon as we could say we were each others Fiancé(e)'s we did. That also made it really easy to be comfortable saying it because in private we were already using the term (all secretive it was so exciting to have a secret like that!). I wanted to use the term right away though so no need to get used to it.

I actually think that it's lost it's oomph in everyday use but when you talk to people who don't know you are engaged or whatever their "oh really?!" face makes me get butterflies!

I also think I got used to saying it first - but to be fair I have heard my Fiancé already use "wife" when talking about me so... he beat me to that one!

It still makes me super excited saying it, and its almost been a year! He still calls me his girlfriend to some people, and then corrects himself... its quite funny.

Yes, I love using it and think it sounds so fancy! For the first little bit I had to take a pause and remember to say fiance instead of boyfriend. It really hit me when I heard other people refer to him as my fiance/ me as his fiancee and that's when I get the most welled up.

Yes! This upcoming Valentine's Day will mark a year since my fiancé and I got engaged so we're both comfortable with the term; however, I still refer to him by name when talking to people that know us both.
