Father-daughter Dance

Julietta, on November 13, 2021 at 22:05 Posted in Wedding reception 0 4

Hi guys!

I'm looking for advice. My MIL and FH want to have a mother-son dance, but me and my dad who have a great relationship aren't really dancers. I feel that by dancing with someone else it might imply we are not close. Does anyone have any alternative reception activities I can do with my dad?

Thank you!

You can pass on the dance if you two are not comfortable dancing. No one is to judge for what is to be done. Ultimately, its your day and what you feel is adequate is good enough for you. You two have something you do enjoy and that is entertaining, that is an alternative for father/daughter thing.

I was at a friend's wedding and he didn't dance with his mom, while his wife danced with her dad. No one judged. He would be super awkward if he did it with his mom.

I think you should do whatever feels right for our and your father. If you don't want to have a father daughter dance, you don't have to. It's your wedding day and you choose what you want to do. Don't worry about that other people are going to think.

Personally, I can't imagine people judging your choice on that. It is so awkward. Is your dad speaking at the wedding? If he is, I would not worry about people questioning your relationship. I assume when you give your speech too you'll speak about your relationship.
