Looking to recreate something similar to this. I have a 6ftx7ft arch. How much fabric do I need?

Just a thought.... I needed 2 panels for my ceremony space (the exit door is at the head of the room, and I wanted it blocked off), measuring about 4 ft by 10 ft, and 3 ft by 10 ft... my mom said fabric to buy would be super expensive that size, so we went to thrift stores and looked til we found some massive white sheer curtains. We got both of them for $8...

Just a thought... if you can find fabric like that at a thrift store, you can get it super cheap, and maybe a mom or aunt or friend is handy with a sewing machine, and can cut/sew them into that long piece you want to drape. For example, my mom took the 2 curtain pieces, undid the pleats, and then cut and added length, to make two 7 ft by 10 ft panels. But you could easily make a 3.5 ft by 40 ft long piece for the archway...

Hey, if it's in your budget to get one piece of fabric as is, done, ready to go, go for it, but I know I saved a ton of $$ with DIY projects, and thrift stores were my sneaky store to get amazing deals.

My brain went the same way as tori! Smiley smile but i would maybe go up to 30 feet of fabric. after hanging fabric like that for a friends wedding. i wish i had an extra 3-4 feet, just to make it drape a bit nicer (had to wrap it around at the corners in order to stay in place due to the winds).

I would think that if you only have one arch compared to the picture having two, then here is my thought process (disclaimer - I have no knowledge on this and am just guestimating...)

6ft + 7ft + 6ft = 19ft pulled tight. Maybe round up to 24ft to give enough give in the fabric?

From there 24ft converted to yards (what fabric is measured in) = 8!

Hopefully that helps? Otherwise I would suggest going to a local fabric store and ask a seamstress or employee there that may know more.
