Everyone’s thoughts on this ?

Natasha, on December 8, 2020 at 15:45 Posted in Ontario 0 4
How is everyone feeling with new news about the vaccine coming a smidge early and having next summer weddings. Does anyone think it’ll be at all somewhat ok by then? I am having my wedding in early June and with people coming from all over Canada and internationally. It’s just so upsetting.

I am so discouraged and not excited to plan anymore. As this should be the most exciting time. I m not sure how to really feel, I guess I just needed to do a little venting.
Thanks 😊

    Hey there!

Not sure where your family is coming from, but the government has a goal to open up the US/CAD border in March, so that's good if you have family from there! Also, our prime minister has said that most of the population should be vaccinated by the end of next year. Since June is in the middle of the year and many will have already been vaccinated, I expect a much more relaxed approach to weddings in general, more so than this past summer where 50 people were available indoors and 100 outdoors. Time will tell!

I think the vaccine is a positive step but it won’t be mandatory. So we are having the issue of having our older grandparents being around non-vaccinated guests.

I think the government also said they hope to have most of the country vaccinated by September. Our wedding is the first weekend in September - so who knows.
We’re waiting until the new year when there are more details to decide what we’re doing. If we can’t have who we want to have and the wedding we want - we’re cancelling and just doing something small in july.

I doubt we'd be able to host restriction-free weddings in the style pre-pandemic for a while. Travelers will still need to quarantine. Gathering numbers might loosen up but not to the point of 200+ people weddings. I think we'll still see physical distancing measures and mask policies in place until almost everyone is vaccinated.

We're still very much enjoying our planning process but we also tend to look on the bright side. I'm an event planner so I'm used to the idea of events have some restrictions or another. The only thing that would stop us from enjoying our wedding is fear of getting sick and someone we love getting hurt so we've been planning as if covid will still be around. Even if we can't have the big dance party, we'll still have a great day because we're celebrating our love and everyone will be safe.

    Hey Girl!
I am in the same boat as you and have a wedding MID June. I postponed from my original date in 2020 and now booked 2021. That being said, I get the feeling of being discouraged and almost disappointed too, its normal to feel this. I am in the same boat.
I am STARTING to get very excited because I do believe with these vaccines it will help reduce some restrictions. I do not think EVERYHTING will be normal, but I do think we will be able to have more people together, and I think Masks "may" still be a thing, but hopefully distance won't be as BIG of an issue. Then again, who really knows...
I am trying to stay as positive as I can to have my family all together and HOPEFULLY even have my family from Colombia and Spain fly in as well!
It's just a wait and see processes now. None the less, My FH and I will be getting married June 18th regardless of the situation/restrictions!
