Entertainment

Laura, on July 13, 2020 at 21:50 Posted in Wedding reception 1 7
I’m having a hard time coming up with more entertainment/acts for my wedding, so far I have planned a DJ and photobooth, but I’ve always wanted someone “famous” or “well known” to perform lol.
But... in a realistic wedding with a budget, what else can I use as entertainment other than gifts and games?

    A magician!

We were thinking of having a magician come by and do tricks during dinner service and put on a performance to keep guest entertained during that time, or have them their during cocktail hour.
It depends what you are into and what you like.

Honestly, it sounds to me like you've got the dance portion covered! Drinking, dancing, socializing, and good music are key ingredients. And the photobooth will be an awesome something extra. Remember, guests don't need to be over-stimulated (But I can totally relate to you here--I definitely had to resist the urge to go overboard with entertainment when I was in the early stages of planning LOL)

If I were you, I would focus on entertainment for other parts of the evening. I love Hank's suggestion of live music for cocktail hour (assuming you're having a cocktail hour). If a full band isn't in the budget, you might consider hiring a couple musicians. I've hired a cellist and pianist for my ceremony, and they'll be sticking around to perform during cocktail hour. I'm so excited about this as I think it'll be a really elegant touch. And it was surprisingly affordable--only a couple hundred bucks for a 2ish hour performance.

If you are keen on more entertainment for the party portion, there are more elaborate options: circus-type performers (fire breathers, etc.), interactive food and drink stations, casino games, etc., but I'm not sure how budget-friendly these would be.

Good luck! For what it's worth, I think your wedding sounds like it'll be a smasher Smiley smile

An on-the-floor interactive MC who interacts with the guests would be a great option. They bring a ton of energy to the room and helps move things along. Many DJ companies offer interactive hosts with their packages for an additional cost.

You can also hire a local live band for the cocktail hour.
