Engagement photos

We are getting them done a few months before the wedding, One reason was we wanted a specific season as well my Fiance really is not a fan of photos, so we wanted to wait closer to the wedding so we could have more time to find a photographer he was comfortable with and use them for the engagement photos.

We didn't have any taken but when we told my dad we were at a marina and he took some pics of us that we used to announce the engagement. No engagement party either.

We got engaged July 2016. Got our photos done in October. I think we want to take another photo shoot in the summer for our September wedding.

We got engaged October 2016 and we are getting photos done at the end of May this year. We are getting married October this year. We aren't including our photo on the invitations or anything, nor are we having an engagement party. We mostly just wanted to have nice photos for ourselves.
I believe most people get their photos done as soon as possible, but we wanted to wait until spring for all the greenery to be out haha

We got engaged December 2015 and are getting married September 2017 we are doing our engagement photos this spring because i was some green and flowers and to be able to use the photos on the invitations. We are leaving it a bit late but last spring and summer were way too busy for me work-wise so I didn't get things booked that I may have wanted to.

We got engaged in December and we waited until the following July to do photos because we wanted to do them with his Harley and on the beach where he proposed

We just got engaged in February, and are planning for an August 2019 wedding. Our photographer (who we have jokingly had booked since 2009... we've been together a longggg time) does free engagement sessions, but as we live in Manitoba and our wedding is in Newfoundland, realistically we won't be getting back to do photos before Summer 2018, so that is when our engagement pictures will be done, and that is also when our families are planning on doing an "engagement" party, as a "one-year until the wedding" party.

We got engaged in June 2014 and we took our engagement photos in May 2015 and our wedding was in November 2016. We sent out our Save the Dates a year in advance because it was a destination wedding and we wanted to make sure that we had engagement photos to use for them! I agree with Chelsea that if you want to take pics during a particular season that you should plan it around that. Otherwise, it's whenever you both are ready and when your photographer is available. Some wedding photographers include an engagement session in their wedding package so you can have a chance to work with them before the wedding but you don't have to use the same photographer for the engagement and wedding photos.

I think traditionally an engagement party is typically soon after the engagement and is thrown for you so it depends on who's hosting but I've seen more and more couples throwing one themselves so in that case it's up to you! We weren't able to have an engagement party so I can't speak from personal experience.

Oh thank you. We got engaged in Dec and our wedding date is May 4th 2019 so was thinking this summer would be good to do the party and summer 2018 would be good to get the pictures done

We are planning on doing our engagement photos this spring! Engaged in December, dating date set for summer 2018.
I'm really excited to do the engagement shoot and can't wait for winter to be over! Since I have to wait so long for the wedding date (albiet that was my choice) this is the closest most exciting thing wedding wise!

We got engaged in March and did our engagement photos in October. Some people get them done right away, some wait for a favourite season or certain weather. I didn't have an engagement party so I am not as much help on that one, but I believe shortly after the engagement is when that would happen.
