Engagement photo etiquette?

If it's not the same dress at all, then I'd definitely post! We also had a lot done (150 or so) and posted about 18.

We got 500+ photos from our wedding and I'm still deciding which ones to post! Trying to narrow it down to 25 or so lol

Thank you I am deciding to show the pictures -- I've gotten a lot of comments encouraging me to do so! Now, I am deciding on timing and which photos to show. We got a great deal and have over 90 photos!

The dress pictured was used only for the photos. I was fortunate enough to purchase two more for the ceremony and the reception.

We used our engagement photos for our save the dates, wedding website, etc. so our guests definitely saw them before the wedding. I haven't heard of keeping them secret before.

It looks like you are wearing the usual wedding attire in your photos and maybe that's why your mom is concerned, but since your FH has already seen your dress, I wouldn't be worried about your guests seeing it too - it will not dull their excitement for your wedding!

I would say it depends - are those the outfits that you plan on wearing for your wedding? If so, I get where she is coming. If not, then post away!!

Even if they are the outfits that you will be wearing on your wedding it is your decsion at the end of the day, I just know that I wouldn't want to post them if we were in our wedding outfits until the wedding itself. Especially since you are under a year till the big day.

We posted a few and gave others to our parents for Christmas so we kept those a secret until after they had opened them. The ones we shared first we're the ones our photographer used on her Facebook page.


You could post one or two, and keep the majority for a surprise at the wedding.

Engagement photos are usually used for the engagement announcements. Normally they are for before the wedding itself. Most people use them in newspapers for announcements or on their save the dates.

I posted a few of mine - I think if you want to share them then do it! People love seeing engagement photos!

I'm with Genevieve - I've never heard of that and vote to show them off! And then post them on here lol - that one is incredible!

I’ve never heard of keeping the engagement photos under wraps before. I’ve always seen them done as as way to hype guests up for the wedding. If you want to release them, I’d say do it!
