Hi! My fiancé and I got engaged at the end of July, but we aren’t having our engagement party until the beginning of March. We didn’t decide on a wedding venue until November and then we wanted to wait until after football season to have it, plus we wanted it to start getting a little warmer before having it as well. I just wanted to see if anyone else has had an engagement party 8 months after getting engaged? Our wedding won’t be for another 6 months after so I feel like it isn’t too weird.

Thank you!! At this point we’re going with it and if it’s weird oh well people get free food and drinks out of it!!

Nothing should stop you from having a party (cuz parties are awesome) but by this point, I assume anyone who cares about you already know you're engaged so having a party specifically to celebrate an engagement does seem kind of weird. Especially when the time after the engagement is longer than the time to the wedding itself.
