Engagement Party 2 years later? Yes/no

Crystal, on May 28, 2019 at 10:20 Posted in Before the wedding 0 10

Hello,

We got Engaged Boxing wk 2016 but never threw an Engagement party as we didn't have any immediate plans of getting Married Right away. Also our Best Friends got Married In 2017, We Bought a House in 2017 and My Fiances Sister is getting Married this year 2019. So Fast Forward to 2019, we found our Venue and have planned to tie the Knot July 2020.

Question: Is it to late or awkward to throw an Engagement Party 2 yrs later?

I really wanted to wait until we were ready to plan a wedding and actually find and know when we were going to get Married before we threw an Engagement Party.

Thank you!

I don’t think it’s too late or awkward!

Definitely do it if that’s what you are leaning towards!

You can still throw a engagement party even 2 years past in your actual proposal.

We didn't have an official proposal or engagement party and got married in 18 months time. We felt it wasn't needed and just as much for the one day of celebrations.

My fiance and I never had an official engagement party after we got engaged. And I'm itching to throw one even though it's been a year since we got engaged.

So sort of a similar boat, I'm planning to combine it with a housewarming sort of party once I have our new place a little more together (we moved about 6 months ago)

I don't think so at all.

I have a girl I went to high school with who is getting married in July and she just posted pictures of an engagement party.

We also didn't have one, but we were away when we got engaged, so we felt that was a week long party lol

I did mine almost a year after getting engaged since I wanted nice summer weather (got engaged October 2017). I think it'd be fine to host one 2 years after the fact - you are still celebrating your engagement after all! Smiley winking

I mean, personally as a bride to be that got engaged Dec. 2017 and bought a house summer 2018 and getting married fall 2019 it was too late in my mind to have one even a year after we got engaged. As a guest though - I wouldn't mind being invited to one even if it is 2 years later though so I really do think it's only in our heads that we can't.

I say do it - don't over think it Smiley smile

I'm not sure I would but I don't think anyone will think anything of it. an engagement party is really to celebrate the engagement so people do expect that party to be around that time regardless of when the wedding may be. you could do a joint shower or something else instead of you're concerned. or just do it and not worry about it.. people will want to celebrate with you so they won't care about the timing.
