Engagement party

Amanda, on July 9, 2018 at 13:48 Posted in Before the wedding 0 14
Hey all,

what are some things you all did for your engagement parties? I don’t want a huge party and something simple before summer is over but have so much going on in the next few months.

Any ideas or advice plz

HAve a BBQ and drinks with your friends and family. Have some music playing and mingle. We did that and we went around in a circle introducing themselves and how they know us and we had a small speech and told them how we got engaged.

We're doing a bbq backyard party in 3 weeks! It's combined with my parents' 30th anniversary over the August Long Weekend

A simple potluck backyard BBQ would be a nice way to celebrate that is pretty low-key.

Engagement parties don't need to be huge unless you can afford it.

Simple bbq or potluck can be done with friends and family closest to you both.

I don't have any in mind but perhaps a park nearby will have a little pavilion with tables you could have it at?

Hi thanks for the response. I agree with you something small and I was thinking pot luck dinner or fun bbq but. Just have to find the ideal space

Hi ya!!! I was also thinking the same that it’s not necessary but I would like to have a small one. I was thinking of a pot luck style type thing also

While I didn't end up having one - I would have loved to have had a brunch with the families, and in the evening a backyard BBQ with the family and friends. Nothing too big, just a simple hurrah reason for a party. (I would do a BYOB and BYOMeat though.)

We never had an engagement party... Honestly, we have too many small groups of family/friends, so we would have had to host it, and our place isn't nearly big enough...

If you're able to... just host a BBQ. Nice, quaint, simple... Then you control the guest list, and you can keep cost down.

It's not necessary either, so don't feel pressured to have one if it doesn't seem to work out.
