Engagement Anniversary

Kaitlyn, on February 11, 2021 at 10:53 Posted in Before the wedding 1 4

It is almost one year since we got engaged and we are looking for a fun (covid accepted) way to celebrate. Looking for ideas beyond a nice dinner in.

Any suggestions are welcome!

Thank you! That sounds so much fun!!!! Definitely looking to have some fun right about now. Our wedding is only 4.5 months out so something simple sounds great.

We had what I called an un-iversary 2 weeks before our wedding and close to one year after our engagement. I got cupcakes in our wedding cake flavors and takeout from our favorite restaurant and a decent bottle of wine. We had a picnic in our living room and watched movies and played board games. It was nice to stay in (that month was insanely busy!) and to have a night to ourselves where we didn't discuss wedding plans. If the weather had been more cooperative we would have gone for a walk or done a little beach exploring, but a rainy night in was also wonderful!

Shop for each other. Set a budget and each use a separate laptop to purchase an outfit or accessories for one another. Keep it a surprise. You can ask each other about sizing and whether they have certain pieces but keep the actual purchase a surprise until everything arrives and you do an unboxing and try it on in front of each other.

Use Youtube and karaoke some love songs. Record it for future hilarity.

Create a piece of art together, like a painting on canvas or build a sculpture.

Bake something together or cook a meal that's tougher than your usual skill level.

Play video games. It sounds like a guy thing but if you have access to something like Super Mario or Pokemon, it can be hours of entertainment. There are also online versions of things like Scrabble and Pictionary that you can play with strangers.

On our engagement anniversary last year, my fiance and I made a blanket fort in our living room and went through old photos and videos on the TV! Reminiscing about better times really cheered us up and we had some hilarious conversations. We also left the fort there all weekend and slept in it.... it was fun to be childish and go back to simpler times for a weekend.
