Ending Time on a Sunday Night

GypsybB, on January 14, 2020 at 18:16 Posted in Wedding reception 0 7
We have our wedding on a Sunday. We have the DJ for 2.5 hours for cocktail hour and dinner music. Then 4 hours of dance. If we start at 4pm for cocktail hour then the DJ would end at 10:30pm. I am completely happy with this, as the Bride & Groom will leave before this time. But when I brought it up to my sister, she said this is the earliest wedding she has ever been too. Once again it’s a Sunday night and I honestly want an early night in the hotel Smiley winking Thoughts? I personally think, if they want to keep drinking that the bar is still there or it’s kind of early enough to go somewhere else?

10:30 is my bedtime on Sundays lol 😂

I would totally be ok with that as an end time as a guest, but maybe suggest a bar/pub where guests can go if they want to continue the party (you don't have to join them either!). If most of your guests have Monday-Friday 9-5 jobs or kids, they'll need to go home around that time anyways.

I think 10:30 is fine - but I do see what she is seeing, although 10:30 isn't that early, by the time supper is done there is only really 4 hours to dance and party which go by SUPER fast. Maybe you could just give a location of where the party can continue so that your guests don't have to try and figure it out and coordinate with other guests? It won't be much work for you - but guests would highly appreciate not having to use their brains Smiley tongue

I think 1030 is perfect. Personally if I worked the next day or had kids to get to school/day care I wouldn't want to be out super late on a "school night".

I've been thinking about having an after party for some of our guests. We need to be out of the venue by 1, so if me and hubby and a few friends wandered off to one of our favorite bars around midnight we could keep going until closing time. So that's always an option for your party animal guests!

I think it’ll depend on of your guests will have a long drive out if they’ll have the Monday off. Ours ends at 1AM but I put a disclaimer that guests can leave early if they need to.

Our wedding will end at 1am. Ceremony at 4pm.

If you would like an early night, you can cut cocktail hour to 1 hour and have supper earlier.

I don't think 1030 is too early, so go with what makes you feel good.
