Doing your own hair and makeup?

Ivania, on April 23, 2017 at 21:15 Posted in DIY 0 9
Hello everyone!I just got home from a trial session for hair and makeup, and to be honest...I'm not overly thrilled. The ladies were kind, and tried to suit me, but in the end I found the overall result to be less than satisfactory. The makeup wasn't something I'm used to or imagined myself in, and the hair didn't turn out the way I wanted at all, despite several attempts.
Not only that, but I was constantly finding myself thinking that it would be easier to just do it myself. With that in mind, I've decided to do my own beauty routine for the wedding. The look i want is simple enough, and I'm used to doing my own hair and makeup.
That being said, does anyone have any tips on good products to use for the big day? Specifically a good long lasting foundation. Any hacks to relieve stress?
Input is much appreciated!

I’m a freelance MUA, I’m choosing not to do my own makeup the day of just because I want to be stress free. But for recommendations, I would say definitely moisturize the night before, face mask, exfoliate, the whole thing, and definitely do a sugar scrub on your lips!! Morning of, moisturize, add hyluronic acid by the ordinary, it’s a very sticky product and will make your makeup last! foundation depends on your skin type. For dry skin, I love the Natasha Denona face glow foundation, it’s beautiful and lasts all day! For oily skin, I would recommend too faced born this way, very full coverage and lasts! Definitely use setting spray, and powder with translucent powder under your eyes and around your nose to prevent the foundation from flaking off. Lastly for lips I HIGHLY recommend the maybelline super stay. When it says super stay it means it! It lasts me a FULL 24 hours, if not more. That being said, make sure you’re absolutely sure about the colour as it is quite difficult to get off! Smiley smile

I have to do my own engagement make up and been doing some research. This is for photo make up, not for everyday. Don't use any products with SPF it picks up too much light, even under make up, same goes for mineral makeup. Especially when photo and videoographers are using HD lenses. Translucent powder to set foundation is best. Primer and concealer is a must. I use Lancome La Pro Base Primer! It's amazing! Pricey but worth it. You get what you pay for with cosmetics. Stay away from frost eyeshadow and super glossy lipsticks and glosses. Gloss can give your lips a plumper look but again with lenses not good. The rest of my make up kit contains Mary Kay products (everything I purchase works amazingly well (Foundations, concealers, liners, shadows, and eye make up remover.) I just purchased Urban Decay Naked Basics and they work great too! Great colour pigment and staying power without eyeprimer. Watch you tube tutorials. They have helped me a lot.

I'm quite good with makeup, as I've done modeling and such in the past so I always knew I'd do it myself, I've never been overly impressed by any MUA... A close friend of mine will be doing my hair since I'm going with just simple straight and down with some fancy braid in the back, saves so much money. For foundation I love NARS sheer glow, it's buildable but sheer so can get as much or as little coverage as you want, use primer under it for sure and Urban Decay has amazing setting spray to help keep everything locked in place, don't use anything with an SPF already in it as it can cause whitecasting in photos (not cute)! Also Urban decay has wonderful sample sizes of eye primer that will keep your eyeshadow in place ALL night Smiley smile

I'm doing my own hair and makeup! I found several tutorials on Youtube for a similar style and I do my own hair to go out/ work parties frequently. I wear full "performance/ show girl" makeup for work, so I'm fairly comfortable with doing my own makeup but one thing I've found super helpful is going to Sephora and getting samples of EVERYTHING. If there is something that you see online that they carry and you would like to try, they'll give you a little sample of it. I've had great luck with trying concealer, powder, primer etc. good luck!

#1 suggestion is primer. I like smashbox brand but there's lots of others, and it just makes all your makeup stick to your face better.
