dj prices

Hi everyone,

What is the going rate for a DJ? Our ceremony is outside and reception inside (same property) and our venue is providing a very basic sound system (mics/speakers etc) and would ideally want it all covered!

Hi Ashley! First off, congratulations! Like all responses on here DJ pricing varies by location, hours, services included, etc. For example, Toronto will likely be more expensive than Hamilton, but it depends on the services and vendors. Our DJ will be 1900$ but includes tax, 8 hours, MC, giveaway announcements (if applicable), backlighting at the head table + ceremony music (he will play music for 15 min prior to the start of the ceremony, processional, signing marriage license, recessional, provide microphones and speakers). Best of luck!

DJs can vary in pricing starting from $1000 onwards. The packages you choose will base on the price for what is being offered. Its best to check out sites and reviews to know of their professionalism. Also, its good to know if you can modify the package.

We hired a DJ for 12 hours at $1000. He was amazing though some of the requests he played had vulgar language in it and I wasn't happy to hear those songs towards the end of the party. Make sure you do not get those songs when you book your DJ.

It honestly depends on how many hours you want them for and which province you're in as well. Every DJ is different. I would research a bunch in your area and see what fits best with you guys Smiley smile

For instance, my fiance and I are having our DJ for 8 hours. Ceremony & reception. He's also being our MC for the night. He brings all of his equipment and we're paying $875.

It varies wildly. I've seen rates from $500-$5000 and it depends on number of hours, the type of setup (most venues don't allow anyone other than their in-house exclusive DJ to plug into their system and pro DJs bring their own equipment and won't plug into a basic setup), and any add-ons like MC services (announcing entrances and events), lights, or other tech setups like whether they're running video projection for you, etc.
