DJ and playlist

You don't have to worry about a playlist at all, the lovely benefit of having a DJ. Our DJ gave us a package of popular songs broken down by category, and had us highlight songs we like so they had an idea of what we wanted.

We also have a must play list, and a do not play list.

Yes you don't have to worry about this! If there are songs you definatly wanted played then let him know to make sure he has them and give him the list of the important songs in advance- wedding song, parent songs, grand entrance etc.

You could make a small list of "Must Plays" and your list of "DO NOT Plays" and just ensure you provide a list of songs you want for specific things like your ceremony music, your first dance, F/D & M/S dances, cake cutting etc so that your DJ definitely has it on the day of!

A bit of one! It's not too bad though - I just make a note in my phone whenever I hear anything on the radio, etc that I either really enjoy or can't stand

At our consult, ours told us that they'll take care of the playlist but to let them know of any specific songs we want on our Play and Do Not Play lists. They have a good idea of the good ones to keep the dance floor packed but wouldn't want to play anything that makes the bride or groom want to go die in a corner somewhere.
