Diy worth the headache??

Melissa, on March 13, 2017 at 13:13 Posted in DIY 0 3
We are planning our wedding and trying to save as much as possible anywhere we can! Thinking of DIY decorations and having family/friends help make them and decorate the reception venue. Looking for opinions/experiences with similar situations from other brides/brides-2-be. Is it worth it? Did you regret it? Would it be easier or worth the extra cash to hire a decorator/planner
Any and all opinions/experiences appreciated!! Thanks and Happy Planning! -Mel ❤

I would agree with Lesley. If you cannot guarantee that you will have the time to set it up the day before, or even if you feel like making a lot of stuff will overwhelm you, maybe you should pay the little bit extra and buy things. We are planning to DIY our centerpieces and our wedding favours so far. Not sure if we will add any other projects to that.

Although I haven't been married yet, I have been an event planner for 8 years so I have experience with this.
Unless you can guarantee you can set everything up the day before, I would think really carefully about any day-of set up. Usually a venue can help our out centrepieces and favours as long as that's easy to do.
That said, I'm planning to decorate myself with some friends but I'm eliminating anything that will be too time consuming because I'm not sure when I can get in there. Sometimes less is actually more.
I'm still planning to DIY my centrepieces and maybe a backdrop as well as set up everything the day of.
What are you planning to set up yourself on the day? It's definitely doable as long as it's a simple list and everyone is assigned specific tasks.
