diy Headtable backdrop

Jess, on July 18, 2018 at 19:08 Posted in DIY 0 10

Hey guys!

I am looking for suggestions of DIY headtable backdrops. We are having our reception in a hotel banquet room but there is an ugly room divider our headtable will be in front of. I priced out backdrops from vendors and they are pricing higher than I would like. Any suggestions on DIY backdrops that might be more budget friendly?

Thanks in advance!

Jess

Get tool like curtains or fabric and add vertical lights in various places. That's what we are doing. We are making the stand out of PVC piping.

Yesh that's been my struggle... was thinking if there was a black drape behind it maybe might be able to sew some string on it to hold them up?

I've priced out uplighting and a logo projector for the wall and they are definitely cheaper. Definitely worth a call! Our room has lots of windows for natural light which is great but limits the lighting optiom for most of the dinner.

Thats amazing! I love the idea of incorporating the wood. Maybe i can get my fiance to build a wooden structure. Great ideas, thanks!

Thats a high ceiling! Must be a beautiful venue! I think ours is about 14' tall x 27' wide. I love the hoola hoop idea with fairy lights. Just have to figure out a freestanding structure to string them onto. Thanks for the suggestion!

How large is your division wall?

I'm struggling with this too as mine is a 80' wide by 24' tall division wall...

I love the tall ceilings! But dang it is a big wall to cover hahah!

I've seen a lot of neat ideas done with paining hula hoops and hung against walls with glitter or even twinkle lights! A nice and easy way to cover a large space by staggering them across the wall!

Oh man, pinterest is your best friend. We're making a free standing wooden hexagon..thing. (I say, after the week long struggle we just took to make *one* wooden hexagon). But we've got over a year to make our stuff, and our backdrop is really pretty, so we don't have to worry about it so much.

I like the idea of getting a string light wall behind you with some white drapes or lace (!). You could also rent some of those fabric-y wall things to stand behind you that you could pin stuff to if you wanted to.

Amazon has string fairy lights for cheap. And they come like 8 or 10 feet long. Maybe a bit longer.
I have seen lots of tutorials to use copper or pvc piping to make a frame. To make easier. Depending on head table length. I would make 3 sections. Would then need to buy some sheers or material to hang from top/wrap around pipes.

Lights can work if you get them stringed by ordering based on the length needed. Sheers fron Dollarama may be a solution which can be donated after or given away to a home needed.

This idea may not be the best; however, it may do the job to cover the divider.

I have the exact same issue with the ugly divider wall, would love to hear some suggestions as well! We are going to decorate the actual table itself but the wall behind is not nice, and we can't pin anything on it either, it has to all be freestanding. We thought about maybe doing some LED uplighting to illuminate the wall in a fun way.
