diy Backdrop

Has anyone done their own DIY backdrop for the head table? Is it achievable? I'm interested in having a drapery style backdrop but worried about costs.

Ikea has very inexpensive curtain rod. Check out Hugad. It could extend to 385 cm. The price is only $6.99 each. Then buy sheer materials or tulle from fabric store. The width is usually 150 cm and per meter's cost is between $4 to $9 depends on which materials. From Costco or Canadian Tire, buy light strings. Voila!!! you have beautiful backdrop with less than $100.

I’m not sure about the over all cost but I know the PVC piping was about $66

I did have my husband help and it took 5 minutes and less than $100. Simple and easy to break down yourself too.

How much did it cost her? I don't know anything about the piping.

My best friend just got married Sept 8 and they made their own. They used PVC piping, cheap sheer curtain panels from Amazon and twinkle lights.

It depends on how detailed it is.

I was quoted anywhere from 400-1200. but the backdrop I need is almost 25 feet high. and about 30 feet wide. I just wanted simple hanging shears. with the outside edges/few feet having mini lights.

depending on your venue. a backdrop may not even be necessary. the layout of ours. it totally is. but if it was the other hall I was looking at. I probably wouldn't have done one.

I'm trying to get my mom on board to rent but she doesn't see it as necessary. How much do you think it would cost?

I agree with Stephanie. the cost to rent is worth the headache of having to set up/tear down. especially if something were to happen while trying to set up. pros are so experienced at those heights/setting them up.

Getting a large enough quantity of material can be hard if you go to fabric land or something like that! If you're willing to try online just make sure when they send the material it is in ONE solid piece! Some will cut it which would ruin the look! It's very doable but a nice material that drapes well can be expensive, it's almost more worth it just to rent and have the vendor worry about set up and take down IMO
