Dinner Seating

Meghan, on March 22, 2022 at 13:59 Posted in Wedding reception 1 7

I'm curious to know what everyone is doing for guests dinner seating! We are not having a seating chart so i'm looking for other ideas on seating placement beside name cards on plates! TIA

Oh absolutely, especially with that many people. The only other way around a seating chart or escort cards I could think of would be if you had staff at the door to reception hall with a list of names and their assigned tables. Try to have a few people and a few entrances so you don't bottleneck the doors.

You can also email guests a head of time but it's cumbersome because a bunch will likely not read it and still need someone or something on-site to inform them of their table.

Yes assigned seating all the way 🙌 we had escort cards (it was new years - well supposed to be) so each card was attached to a noise horn and had their meal sticker on it too (picture was taken after most were already grabbed). Then at their seat was a acrylic name card on the plate. Generally I don't care if the actual seat was assigned, just table, but I really wanted to do these haha and for covid purposes I think we had to.

Hmmm interesting, i've never been to a wedding where they didn't have assigned seating. We have 130 guests and we both come from separated and big families so assigned seating for us is necessary. We are having a buffet style but like I said its still necessary for our guests

A lot of informal events don't assign seating. What kind of reception are you having and how many guests are you hosting?

Unassigned seating works for cocktail receptions or if you're doing a buffet where the servers don't need to know where each guest is sitting for their dietary restrictions.

I'm doing a personalized Mason jar for each person at the tables.. part of the favour and also something they can use all night and showing what table they are at.

We are dividing the tables with a 50-50 mix of each side per table and assigning people to tables but letting guests choose their own seats
