Yes!! We met in college, he finished college and we were four hours away. So he came and visited me a lot and I visited every once in a while as I am not a huge fan of long distance driving. He is so great!

We were never long distance really, but when I first met my fiance he was in the military and was away often in other provinces for training exercises. One winter he was only home for 3 weekends in a 3 month time period and then ended up going to Nepal after they had the huge earthquake to provide disaster assistance. That was the most difficult because he didn't have access to phone or Internet most of the time and I was constantly worrying about him. Thankfully he left the army after his contract ended last October and he has gone back to college. I'm super proud of him for giving 6 years of his life to serve our country but I'm also super glad that he has decided to pursue safer career options with way less travel!

For the first year of our relationship it was long distance he was working out west in Alberta and I was here in Ontario, we did the math and saw each other face to face in person a combined total of a month that first entire year, it defiantly was testing on our relationship but it only solidified us and made us so much stronger, our friendship grew and our love. Not much could get between us now after going through that.Smiley heart

We aren't technically long distance but it feels like it, an hour away really isn't much even though it feels forever away

In our case, we did not do long distance as we both live in the same city.

My Fiance and I were long distance for about 2.5 years. Out of college we both found great jobs....In cities 4 hours apart.

It worked well for us after an adjustment, stressful at times, and tested our trust in one another in the first months. We had to make it a priority to visit and schedule weekends together, I travelled a great deal with my job at the time, which made things all the more exhausting.

Eventually he was laid off from his job in downsizing and moved back to my neck of the woods. The timing was great and he was able to find another job quickly (thank goodness). We now live, work and play in the same place!

I am glad for the experience. I think that being apart helped us to appriciate one another differently than we would have otheriwse, and also forced us to take our time getting to know each other and deciding to get married. I can also see how it would not work for some people- it can get lonely, and frustrating.
