Destiny Banquet Hall

Patricia, on July 8, 2020 at 11:53 Posted in Wedding reception 1 7

Has anyone booked this hall for 2020 or 2021?

They sent me a letter yesterday stating that they have closed down and are not able to return deposits/any money paid. This means that brides would be out of thousands of dollars.

Anyone have any advice on how to get some or all of my money back?

Unfortunately I don't have wedding insurance and I paid her by cash so I only have our contract, menu and receipt. This is terrible.... Smiley sad

Did you pay by credit card or interac? If you did, maybe call your provider and see what they can do for you.

I paid by cash so it looks like im completely out of luck. This is terrible.

I'm in the same situation. I'm so upset about this. I'm mad that I put a little more deposit than the minimum. Lesson learned - only pay the minimum deposit.

I wonder if there is anything we can do to get our money back. I was reading that maybe we are out of luck ☹️

It looks like they declared bankruptcy, which means a bunch of lawyers are now in charge of distributing assets, and unfortunately like Genevieve says, consumers are usually the last to get repaid. If you have wedding insurance, you can recover your losses through that.

    Hi Patricia!
Did they close down because of bankruptcy or just to save costs? If it’s bankruptcy, I hate to say it, but your deposits are likely gone because they owe. You can ask a lawyer to see what your options are but unfortunately these kind of closures have big banks behind them that want their loans back and they take precedence.
