Anna, on July 28, 2023 at 12:11 Posted in Ontario 3 3
Hi everyone getting married in 2024. Trying to keep on budget so gonna diy most of it. Besides centrepieces and signage what else would I need to add for decor? It will be in a banquet facility.

Definitely candles as someone else mentioned, not sure if you have place cards and table numbers as part of your signage list but they are easy diys. Perhaps something for your ceremony arch if you’re having one.

We had candles to add a romantic vibe on the tables and the guestbook signing table. Also had a champagne sequin tablecloth and greenery hung around our welcome sign.

    Hello,

Here are some of the things that couple help cut costs by sort of DIY-ing it.

Digital TemplateI highly suggest getting a digital template for your invitations. You can use that template to make a ton of things for the wedding - Save the Dates, Table Cards (who sits where), Timeline, Menu, RSVP cards, Details cards to go with invitations, Accommodations cards to go with invitations and the list can go on. Then you have a continuous theme. I printed all wedding card stock.

Take Advantage of Sales (Boxing Day, Change of Season)You may want to do your own photobook or scrapbook for your wedding photos. Buying albums and scrapbooks around the end of December can allow you to save a lot of money. I bought thank you cards on sale around that time too. Also, I planned ahead to buy a shadow box frame so I can make a keepsake. I used dried flowers and leaves from my wedding day to decorate around a copy of my wedding invitation to display at home in the shadow box. I bought this all at Michael’s.

My family and I made ceremony decor - faux sprigs of greenery from Michael’s. We simply added white tulle and white ribbon to hide the stems. We used green wire to keep them on the sides of the ceremony chairs. I got them on sale at the end of the summer the year prior to my wedding date. Keep an eye out on sales when seasonal items change over that fit with your wedding season’s decor.
A friend of mine bought faux flowers, hollow letters, and foam to make custom lettering of the wedding couple. It’s a cute decor idea and it is personalized to your special day.

Buy in BulkThe flower arrangements pre-made can be quite expensive. Something my photographer suggested was doing bud vases for centrepieces. Have a flower and a piece of greenery in a vase or two on each table if you have rectangular tables for guests at reception. The vases I bought at Dollar Tree or Dollarama.

You can buy table runners for guest tables too. I found options on Amazon that were reasonable. Only thing that would make it difficult is if you have a very specific colour scheme for your wedding.

You can make your own “tent” cards that show where guests should be sitting at each table. There are Avery templates available at Walmart or Staples. This is helpful when the guest list can change quickly closer to the wedding and you can print it and “punch” it out without needing to cut anything.

I hope some of these ideas are helpful!
