covid Postponement Positivity

Ally, on April 15, 2020 at 21:30 Posted in WeddingWire 0 3
Hi Everyone!

We recently made the decision to postpone our June 2020 wedding to April 2021. It was a very tough decision but now that we’re on the other side of things, there are a few silver linings I’ve noticed and wanted to share to spread some positivity at this time. I’ve seen other brides mention some bright sides to their new dates on other threads and I was hoping that we could collect these on one thread and brighten each others spirits. Our postponement positives are:
1 - since we have longer to save, I can redirect some of our wedding savings to pay off my student loans 6 month earlier than planned.2 - we originally wanted to have Anemones in our flower arrangements but that can be hit or miss at the end of June. Our flowers will definitely be available for our new date in April.
What are some positives that have come out of your postponements?

I'm loving that planning has options again! We're planning on eloping if we need to postpone, since his family won't be able to make it into the province. I felt like as soon as we put deposits down we were set in stone, now we can think about elopement locations and I've debated buying the dress I almost bought as something to wear when we have a ceremony for friends and family. Now we have options and I can dream about our day again! We might even change our date and elope on our dating anniversary, if we're eloping we might as well make it a surprise 😉

The thought of what better things can be done from postponing the date is throughout well. Debts to get paid off and saving money are great ways to cut down your payments while saving for the big day.

We’ve postponed our June date until May 2021. We’re looking at this as a chance to re-do anything that wasn’t going the way we had hoped but thought there was no time to correct. Brides look back years later and say “I wish I could have done X different” , well now we have the chance!!!! Re-do and rediscover what you really want out of your big day. Sending hugs to all postponed weddings 💖💖
