Covid 19 & Weddings

Hi everyone.

How are 2020 brides feeling that have already postponed? We postponed from August 1st 2020 to July 24th 2021. I’m stuck between going through with July 24th or postponing... again. I’m located in Alberta Canada & sadly it feels like covid isn’t going away anytime soon. If we do go through I don’t even know how to wedding plan? Or just postpone again to summer 2022.

Ontario just extended our lockdown for another two weeks...My future SIL is planned to marry on July 30th - my fingers are crossed that she can at least get her minimum guest number of 100 guests!! Originally planned for July 2020. If not, 2022 it is! It'll be pretty special having both siblings (my fiance and his sissy) getting married the same year.

Wow we are in the exact same boat! I feel like we are pushing to postpone just because of all of the uncertainty. We have the date august 6th 2022, on hold currently.

My fiance and I were supposed to be August 8 2020 but then postponed to August 7 2021. We live in Edmonton but are getting married in Kelowna BC. Their gathering restrictions are in place until May long weekend but could be extended. Restrictions there are the same as in Alberta with no receptions, only 10 people for a ceremony. And now since the premier doesn't want outside residents of BC to come to the province, you could be fined if you're pulled over and found your not from BC we made the choice just this past week to postpone until next summer August 7 2022. I think by next summer things will be better since most people will be vaccinated and restrictions will be pulled away somewhat

I am also a July 24 Alberta bride! Honesty, right now im actually feeling super optimistic, i know the numbers are not very good right now but i think if people keep getting vaccinated by june we will be able to at least have 50 people outside. We decided at the beginning of this year to move our wedding to our acreage instead of holding out for a venue. We are only getting married this year if we can have at least 50 people outside and im probably waiting until the end of June for the postponement decision if we need to. Today i am optimistic but ask me tomorrow it might be a different story lol! If you want any tips or to bounce planning ideas off of just message me! Smiley smile

We already postponed from August 29th 2020 as well and are booked to get married June 4th, 2021. We have made the decision that we are getting married 100% because we want to start a family and honestly I can no longer handle the stress of planning a wedding during COVID. With the restrictions in Ontario, we will likely be having a 10 person ceremony (maybe 25 if things loosen up a little) and maybe a dinner with immediate family afterwards in our backyard. Our videographer will send us a video of our ceremony a day later so we will send that our to family and friends who couldn't join us. At this point, we are just tired of changing plans over and over and want to be married! And at the end of the day, it is about the two of us, everyone else will understand. Best of luck!
