So my fiance and I have decided on doing a courthouse wedding and a reception later! This was a mutual decision and cheaper alternative and we can still do it this year ❤

    Alberta doesn't do "courthouse" weddings. But you can have a friend apply to be an officiant under the new pilot project. Application is free and than they can marry you for free.

    Really? Here in Manitoba you can have a City Hall Ceremony no problem (which I assume is the same thing as a courthouse wedding)

    Just have to provide your own marriage license that you have to purchase 24 hours prior, book an appointment, and bring your own witnesses.
