Hello fellow wedding date sharers!

What have you guys started planning and what seems to early to be doing? I want to do engagement photos this fall but worry it’s too soon?

This is my date! I got engaged on July 12 2024 and started planning immediately! To me, engagement pictures can be done at any time during the engagement period, it doesn’t have to be right when he proposes or soon after. For me, we are only using those pictures that will be taken during our shoot on our wedding website and for decor on the front table by the guestbook, so we don’t need to take the pictures right away. We’re scheduling our engagement shoot for 4-5 months before our wedding since we won’t need the pictures until 3 months before when we send invites.

We’re Sept 2025 and have booked venue and photographer so far. We found the venues are already starting to get booked up for 2025. If you have a specific date in mind, I’d start looking now.

We also did the math haha booking now, with looking at the payment schedule, this gives us a lot more time and smaller monthly savings needed to get us to where we need to be by payment deadline. If you’re paying for the wedding yourself, this might be helpful to consider.
Venue also kinda sets the tone for a lot of other factors. Ours had a list of vendor referrals that has been helpful with getting the other things moving.

We just booked our venue and lucked out as they were going to raise the prices! Food we’re doing a food truck but can’t until a year in advance so we’re waiting for that one. But we’re definitely doing engagement photos this year. It just felt weird to do so early as I wasn’t sure when to send save the dates, etc

Get things booked as early as you can if you can with your vendors and venue! Some vendors will allow you to book way in advance. Sometimes you can secure and lock in prices before they raise them!

Like stephanie said get your engagement photos when you want! Who cares if it's too early!

My husband and I got ours done in July 2019 for what was supposed to be our August 2020 wedding

Get photos when you and your partner would like to. Aim for the season you want your photos in rather than thinking of what other people’s timelines are. My husband and I loved doing our engagement photos in fall - we did mid to late October. That way all the leaves are changing colour and possibly have leaves on the ground. It’s never too soon to plan. The more in advance the better the prices will be - prices for any vendor goes up, never down. Get your most expensive vendors booked at least a year in advance. It makes a difference! Double check contracts and ensure there is a plan in place if they are sick or something comes up.
