Couples getting married on July 4, 2021 in Ontario

Keren, on April 3, 2021 at 20:59 Posted in Ontario 0 7

Hello! Anyone else wondering how their Wedding is going to go with all the restrictions? I've finally made my peace with the fact that it's not the wedding I had envision but working with it. We're getting married at Cambridge Mill on July 4th and with the lockdown and restrictions, we'll be doing a drive-by wedding shower. Anyone else wants to share what their covid celebrations look like?

Sincerely,

Fellow Covid Bride (LOL)

I love the drive by shower idea, I have decided to do that! At least I can hand out the favors as well as desserts and a slice of cake in a to-go if they'd like! I had purchased prizes already for the shower- are you giving out prizes in some way? My bridesmaid suggested to hold a zoom meet before to raffle prizes so that when they drive by I can hand them the prizes but at the same time it seems like too much lol. Love your idea of all the decor!

We are definitely on the same boat! Best of luck to all brides out there Smiley heart I've adjusted my expectations so many times already and finally figured that I would be really happy if I can at least have the 50 people ceremony. Cos the main thing is to get married and have your closest family and friends there to witness it. The reception is really just a bonus at this point.

Oh wow! So your wedding is even sooner Smiley surprise

And for the drive-by shower, it's just like these drive-by baby showers and birthday where people stop by your house and you give them food and/or their wedding favors as a thank you. I found this to be the best alternative because it gives us the opportunity to see everyone who we wouldn't be able to invite to the actual wedding. We plan on decorating the entire front of the garage with balloons, flowers, and signs with tables ready with to-go treats and favors.

Personally, I dislike the idea of doing virtually so I kept researching different ideas that don't go against any rules and I had too many people I wanted to invite to my shower to do 5 at a time, it would have taken me a day to get through the list LOL

Honestly, we thought about postponing it if we can't have 50 people because the venue fee is so steep because we rented the biggest room to accommodate our initial guest list and now with 50 we're like "okay, it's not TOO bad" but if things stay the same or get worse by June we're definitely postponing... Smiley sad

We are going through with our wedding ceremony on June 6th, 2021 (just the Church). Our reception at Whistle Bear Golf Club (also Pearle Events) has been moved to Spring 2022. We have accepted our wedding will be very different from than we had originally planned (250 people). I was hoping we could at least have a small gathering after the ceremony but with the current restrictions (and supposed upcoming stay-at-home order coming this week) I am just hoping we can have out ceremony with at least 25 people...even better if the 15% capacity in churches remains the same.

My fiance is doing a virtual stag (raffling prizes) and I am really stuck on a shower...with only 5 people allowed to gather outside I am afraid I cant do anything...I do not even know how to have a virtual shower! How are you organizing a drive-by wedding shower? Are you handing out favors or are they bringing you gifts? I have my prizes/favors all ready for the shower but no shower to host, lol.

Hello! Our wedding is actually at Cambridge Mill too a week after yours! With the recent lockdown announcement in Ontario, we've been trying to figure out what exactly we want in different scenarios. Ideally, we are hoping that we can at least do 50 people ceremony and reception by then. But realistically if we can't have the 50 people reception, we are still going to go ahead with the ceremony and perhaps postpone the ceremony. What are your plans? It's definitely so tough to plan for.

We thought for sure we could have our 25 person ceremony this September but if there's another lockdown later in the year that stops our venue from operating, we're considering joining a church and getting married there. No, we're not religious.
