    *sigh

Well, other than that, I hope everything works out as best as it can when the day comes.

I would definitely negotiate that! Use the fact that you're willing to spend money on food when you didn't need to as leverage. At the end of the day, you're doing them a huge solid by giving them business and they need to return the generosity.

Yes absolutely. We’ve accepted that we will be spending a good amount on food. What’s most frustrating is the venue is charging the same rental fee for just ceremony vs full day.

Except Toronto has never been out of Grey so for a venue in the city to think they can host anyone indoors is insane. If you're actually willing to spend the money for a dinner, that's fine but don't feel pressured to spend just because they want you to.

Yes it’s been a lot of back and forth. Technically in red/orange/yellow zones they can host a limited reception/dinner. But I think we’ve come to terms with it and are okay with sending our guests home with dinner no matter what zone it is...

Venue does catering, will be working with them to customize a take-home meal and drinks to meet a minimum spend we previously agreed on

If they can't host a dinner for you because of government regulations, they can't hold you to that minimum spend.

We're in the same boat as you. We've already postponed last year and don't want to do it again. Are you planning to give dinner from the venue or a restaurant?

Our venue is indoors as well, they said 15% capacity (52 guests) is allowed for ceremony. Unfortunately our original contract states we have to meet a minimum food spend, so we are opting to spend it on take-home dinner for all guests 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ceremony is at the church... venue has been great but I don’t want to postpone a second time and it’s an indoor banquet hall.

Yes, Toronto venue and have been discussing 3 main options: 1. postpone by May (we don’t want this), 2. wait and see in May to decide if reception is still possible, 3. ceremony-only with take-out dinner. After the lockdown we will reassess the situation but we are pretty set on ceremony only at this point as a last minute reception planning will be so stressful. I work in healthcare and I don’t feel comfortable hosting a reception in this current situation, and don’t really have confidence that things will be significantly better by July. So...how does one go about writing an invite that specifies guests will get a take-out dinner hahahah oh geez.

Will you be hosting the ceremony at your venue or will you save it for a future reception (if you have one)?
