Hello fellow fiancées! Congrats on your engagement. I don't usually reach out to people like this, I'm an introvert, but I was wondering where everyone is at in their planning process. I am using the extra time to decide things but also not be in a huge rush. I've bought a few things online and think that maybe I'm jumping the gun. But I feel like if I don't take advantage of the extra time, it's going to push me to rushing next year. How many venues have you explored? I was set on one that is now out of the question. Our furbabies are going to be part of our ceremony so that makes the venue search a little harder. Have you picked your wedding party yet? I feel like I should wait until next year.

Personally, my fiancee and I researched around 25 venues before visiting 12, which we shortlisted to a handful that we did a major cost analysis on before picking our final venue. We also diversified our search so we're not just looking in one particular area or one type of venue. You'll find we're not like most people here who locked their venue after visiting one or two (sometimes not even in person) and while you may think we went overboard, we wanted to be thorough to get the best bang for our buck.
I wouldn't say you're jumping the gun. Considering 2022 dates are getting filled and newly engaged couples are likely seeping into 2023, now is a good time to start exploring venues. It's a good idea to take advantage of the lock down period to get all info on pricing and restrictions (in your case, allowing pets on site) before making site visits when things open up.
